In these turbulent economic times there is an ever-increasing demand placed on the Payroll Department, to cope with the consequences of restructuring, redundancy, cutbacks and major budget constraints. This is in addition to having to keep on top of the many changes introduced in the last 12 months in the areas of tax, pensions, benefits and employment law.

This full day event is designed to help all those concerned with payroll in the workplace to deal effectively with the issues confronting today’s Payroll Officer. Karen O’Connor – Datapac

Karen O’Connor is Human Resources Manager with Datapac Consumables Ltd. She has previously worked in various Human Resources Roles within the Datapac and DKG Groups and prior to this in the retail industry. Karen has been exposed to extensive payroll experience through her career from operational to management to process redesign. Karen’s key areas of interest are payroll, health and safety, change management and strategic HR.

Ken Killoran – Mazars

Ken Killoran is a tax manager in Mazars. Ken has extensive experience advising domestic and international organisations on employment tax and social security issues.  Ken is an Associate of the Irish Taxation Institute and has over 9 years tax experience.  Ken joined Mazars in March 2008.  Prior to joining Mazars, Ken worked in a “Big 4” accountancy firm where he specialised in providing a wide range of tax services including providing advice on PAYE and PRSI.

Lisa Dyas – PricewaterhouseCoopers

Lisa Dyas is a consultant with PricewaterhouseCoopers, Ireland’s leading professional services firm. Specialising in employment and global mobility taxation, as part of the HR Services team in PwC Ms. Dyas has advised leading Irish and multinational clients across all sectors. She specialises in a range of employment tax areas including PAYE/PRSI compliance and planning, employment tax risk management, the management of Revenue enquiries including PAYE/PRSI audits, and workforce termination projects. She has also worked on a range of global mobility taxation projects including 'local equivalent payroll' implementation, start up inward investment workforce projects, as well as expatriate/executive tax programme services. Ms. Dyas is an Associate of the Irish Taxation Institute and holds a Bachelor of Commerce Degree from University College Dublin.

Seymour Platt – PricewaterhouseCoopers

Seymour Platt is a Manager with PricewaterhouseCoopers, Ireland’s leading professional services firm. Specialising in the implementation and delivery of payroll services to in excess of 3,000 employees across a wide spectrum of industries and business backgrounds, Seymour is responsible for the management of the day to day payroll operations within the Company Administration Services team of PwC Ireland

Anne Lyne – Hayes Solicitors

Anne Lyne qualified as a solicitor in January 2004 and is an Associate Solicitor on the Employment Team. She has considerable experience advising and representing employers and employees on all aspects of the employment relationship from pre-employment matters to termination. Anne has represented clients at the Rights Commissioner, Tribunals and in the Courts. She also advises on Administrative law, Industrial Relations, Data Protection, Health & Safety and Immigration. Prior to working in Hayes she has worked in the Commercial and Employment Law departments of another commercial law firm and in the commercial litigation department of one of Australia's leading law firms. She has been involved in the preparation and presentation of seminars on employment law and has written a number of articles which have been published in the Irish media. She has tutored in employment law at the Law Society law school and Diploma course. She has a Bachelor of Civil Law degree from UCD and a post-graduate Diploma in business studies from the UCD Michael Smurfit Graduate School of Business. She has also completed a Diploma in Employment law from UCD. She is a member of the Law Society, DSBA, European Employment Lawyers Association, the Health and Safety Lawyers Association of Ireland and the HR organisation, CIPD.

Davnet O’Driscoll – Hayes Solicitors

Davnet O’Driscoll is an experienced Associate Solicitor specialising in Employment and Industrial Relations Law.

She has a particular interest in Equality Law and represents clients in claims of sexual harassment, gender discrimination, disability discrimination and other grounds before the Equality Tribunal and Labour Court. She regularly mediates discrimination and victimisation disputes on behalf of clients before the Equality Tribunal. She is an accredited Mediator and is an Associate member of the Mediators Institute of Ireland.

She advises clients on aspects of Administrative Law including the Freedom of Information Acts 1997-2003, Data Protection Law and Judicial Review proceedings. She has represented numerous clients in bullying and harassment claims in the High Court and advises on best practice and Risk Management of employer liability claims.

Deirdre Cummins - Matheson Ormsby Prentice

Deirdre trained with McCann FitzGerald Solicitors, a "Big 5" city firm and has worked in the area of pensions and employee benefits since qualification in 2004.

In 2007, she joined the Employment Law Group of Eugene F. Collins and headed up the pensions and employee benefits practice. Earlier this year she joined the Employment Pensions and Benefits Group in Matheson Ormsby Prentice where she advises both trustees and employers on all aspects of pension schemes including scheme documentation, administration, restructuring, amendment, dispute resolution and pensions litigation.
She also advises on pension aspects of corporate transactions.

Deirdre is a council member of the Association of Pension Lawyers in Ireland and a tutor in the Law Society on the professional courses on pensions and related matters.
