Morning sessions consist largely of consideration of the main traps that employers fall into when dealing with disciplinary and performance issues. Case law will be used where necessary to contextualise the dangers that employers face when they get things wrong. Sessions after lunch consist of delegates working their way through a series of practical case studies based on real-life examples that might be applied to their own organisations.

What are the learning outcomes?

By the end of the course you will:

  • Be able to describe the Unfair Dismissals Legislation in relation to disciplinary and dismissal matters.
  • Have skills to resolve performance/conduct issues before they become formal disciplinary matters.
  • Understand and be able to apply correct and fair disciplinary procedures.
  • Have practised and honed your skills by working through typical disciplinary issues in a safe classroom environment.
  • Have participated in group discussion on how various problem issues would be managed.
  • Leave feeling better prepared to resolve disciplinary and performance issues at work.

  • Morning Session Two: The importance of 'good communication with employees'
  • Morning Session Three: 'the formal disciplinary procedure- how to pay attention to the essential details of  Procedural matters'

  • Afternoon Sessions: Applied Case Studies 'across a range of typically challenging employee conduct and performance scenarios' 
  • Summary and Action Plans
