Dealing with Bereavement and Crisis at Your School
This workshop will cover a range of issues surrounding the impact of bereavement to a school. The loss of someone close through death is a traumatic and painful event for the majority of people however it can be especially traumatic for a school. Topics covered will include the feelings of loss and grief following  the death of a pupil or a staff member, changes in behaviour, supporting return to school and refusal to return to school, death through suicide, handling a crisis and school bereavement policy.

A close inspection of the school’s obligations to pupils and teachers in and outside of school with regard to social media. Undoubtedly it is a great communication and social tool but unregulated Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin etc  can create havoc and have you dealing  allegations of bullying and defamation.
Mediation as a Tool for Resolving Disputes at Work.
There’s a great deal of anticipation at the moment in legal circles that mediation will soon be in the mainstream as a form of resolving disputes that might otherwise spiral into litigation. But what types of disputes is it suited to? How do you work mediation into your internal policies? And how do you find a good mediator?

Your Employee Assistance Servicehelping to build emotional resilience in schools

Strengthening resilience combines building inner strength with applying personal strength to challenging situations. This workshop will discuss the current provision of the EAS to schools and focus on how principals and deputy principals can utilise the EAS to help support staff to cope with and become stronger as a result of experiencing and dealing with difficult events. Carecall are the new provider of the EAS to schools in Ireland and this will be an opportunity to update participants on the provision of the EAS.
