Ger is a Senior Associate Solicitor in the Employment Pensions and Benefits Group at Matheson Ormsby Prentice.

Ger advises on all areas of employment law, both contentious and non-contentious. This work includes preparation of contracts of employment, service agreements, human resources policies, and advising on all employment aspects of commercial transactions, as well as on new developments in the area of employment and equality law.

Due to his involvement in some of the largest Irish corporate transactions in recent years, Ger has built up considerable experience in the varied employment and labour aspects that arise in commercial projects and reorganisations, such as the Transfer of Undertakings Regulations, employee relocation and post acquisition restructuring, including large scale redundancies. This experience spans numerous industry sectors and includes both the public and private sector. In particular, Ger was a member of the team involved in the acquisition of the Maldron Hotel Group, the Mater Private Hospital and Mount Carmel Hospital   More recently, Geradvised Renault SA and Citroen on all employment aspects of the purchase of their distribution rights in Ireland from local dealers.

Ger also has extensive experience in advising upon performance management issues, termination of contracts of employment, defending bullying and harassment claims, stress at work issues and discrimination matters.  One of the chief litigators within the Group, Ger is regularly engaged in plaintiff and defence work before the High Court and Employment Appeals Tribunal.  He also appears before the Equality Tribunal and Rights Commissioner. 

Ger specialises on all immigration matters and is retained by a large number of both US and Asian companies to advise on their business immigration affairs in Ireland. He also acts for high net worth individuals and their families. 

Ger is a regular speaker at the International Bar Association’s Annual Conference on Global Immigration Law in London.  He also presents at the Immigration and Employment Issues for Business, Investors and Families Conference which is run annually in Austria by the Center for International Legal Studies.   With extensive knowledge in this legal area, Ger has recently published a chapter on business immigration in Employment Law,  the most comprehensive reference book on the area of employment law in Ireland to be published in the last five years.  He also regularly presents seminars on various aspects of employment law for clients in Dublin.

Ger is a member of Dublin Solicitors Bar Association, International Bar Association, European Lawyers Associate, and the Irish Society for Labour Law.
