The purpose of this Bill is to strengthen the enforcement of employment rights, promote greater compliance in the workplace and increase the penalties for employers who seek to gain advantage by denying employees their entitlements under law

Employment Agency Regulation Bill 2009 2011 The main purpose of this Bill is to provide that employment agencies established in the State may operate only under licence.
Industrial Relations (Amendment) Bill 2009 2011 The purpose of this Bill is to make further and better provision for promoting relations between workers and employers, to amend and extend the Industrial Relations Acts 1946 to 2004, to amend the Employment Permits Act 2006 and the Organisation of Working Time Act 1997, and to provide for related matters. In particular, the Bill aims to strengthen the existing system for the making of both Employment Regulation Orders and Registered Employment Agreements and to provide for their continued effective operation. The Bill also provides for the amendment of the definition of "worker" under Section 23 of the Industrial Relations Act 1990.
