Parental Leave (Amendment) Bill 2017

In 2017 the Social Democrats introduced a private member's Bill aimed at expanding current Parental Leave entitlements. During Dáil debates on the Bill, Deputy Róisín Shortall stated that the legislation was intended to provide better job protection and work-life balance for parents. The Government announced it would not oppose the Bill, and indeed have since intimated that they may introduce a scheme of parental leave payments in the forthcoming Budget.
