About this course
In partnership with:
The recently updated Government publication, the Work Safely Protocol, is a key workplace safety document to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the workplace to staff. The pandemic has affected every aspect of our lives. This updated Work Safely Protocol sets out the actions that need to be taken to reduce the spread of COVID-19 in the workplace.
One of the steps outlined in the Protocol is that employers must provide COVID-19 induction training for all employees before they return to the workplace.
Legal Island has created an eLearning course in partnership with RDJ LLP that complies with HSA guidance and enables employers to provide compulsory COVID-19 induction training to all employees in Ireland, in advance of them returning safely to the workplace.
This eLearning course will assist you in showing compliance with 19 points on the HSA Checklist 3: COVID-19 Induction (the remaining 10 are all specific to individual workplaces).
What is the Work Safely Protocol?
The outbreak of COVID-19 has created the greatest global health crisis of our time. The ease and speed at which the virus can spread has caused Governments throughout the world to shut down non-essential services, in order to contain and suppress the virus.
On 1st May 2020 An Taoiseach, Leo Varadkar, set out a roadmap as to how Ireland might slowly emerge from the crisis. A new Return to Work Safety Protocol was published, for the benefit of employers and employees, to underpin the roadmap and the safe reopening of the Irish economy, as COVID-19 restrictions are lifted. Following on from this on the 20th November 2020, the Government published the Work Safely Protocol (the “Protocol”). The Protocol is a revision to the “Return to Work Safely Protocol” previously published in May 2020.
The advice and requirements contained in the Protocol are mandatory and apply to all workplaces throughout Ireland. Businesses and employees must take the steps set out in this Protocol to ensure that workplaces are COVID-secure.
From 20th September 2021, Tanaiste & Minister for Enterprise, Leo Varadkar announced that workers still working from home can begin to return to the workplace on a phased and staggered basis.
After 22 October 2021, the requirement to work from home will be removed. Workers can return to physical attendance in the workplace on a phased and cautious basis.
What is the purpose of this course?
The purpose of this course is to explain what is expected of individuals as they return to work. Workers must understand the risks of Coronavirus (COVID-19) to themselves and their colleagues, the risk to your organisation for non-compliance with the Protocol, and their own personal risk of contracting the disease, in event of non-compliance with health and safety measures put in place in response to the Protocol.
Who needs this Return to Work Safely Protocol: COVID-19 Induction Training?
One of the steps outlined in the Work Safely Protocol is that employers must provide COVID-19 induction training for all employees before they return to the workplace.
