On-demand Training: Contract Variations - Essential Updates from the 2023 Regulations

On-demand Training: Contract Variations - Essential Updates from the 2023 Regulations

We are delighted to be able to bring you our best-selling Contract Variations 2023: Essential Update on the New Regulations course as on-demand training!

The sessions included in this training course were recorded at a live event in April 2023 following the implementation of The European Union (Transparent and Predictable Working Conditions) Regulations 2022 (the “2022 Regulations”) on 16 December 2022 and the passing of the Work Life Balance and Miscellaneous Provisions Bill 2022 by both Houses of the Oireachtas on 29th March 2023.  The Work Life Balance and Miscellaneous Provisions Act 2023 (the “2023 Act”) was signed by the President of Ireland on 4th April 2023. At the time of the event, the provisions of the 2023 Act were not yet in place but are expected to fully come into force in 2023 so future planning is imperative.

The 2022 Regulations introduced significant changes to how contracts of employment and terms and conditions of employment operate. They create new employee rights and amend employers’ obligations under the Organisation of Working Time Act 1997, the Terms of Employment (Information) Act 1994 and the Protection of Employees (Fixed-Term Work) Act 2003.

The 2023 Act was introduced in order to give further effect to the EU Directive on work-life balance for parents and carers, as well as making amendments to the Parental Leave Act 1998 and Maternity Protection Act amongst others. In addition, the 2023 Act for the first time in Ireland introduced the right to request remote working and domestic violence leave.

By the end of this course, you should have a good understanding of all the legislative changes that impact contracts of employment in 2023 as well as what the 2022 Regulations entail, and an overview of the changes in the 2023 Act. This course provides practical guidance on how to manage these legislative changes in respect to varying contracts of employment to ensure your business is up to date and fully compliant with Irish employment law.

Format

Each session includes a video that lasts between 25 - 40 minutes and is accompanied by PowerPoint slides.  These supporting slides are included underneath the video in each session.  We have provided a written copy of the questions and answers that arose during the event and they can be found in the section after the four sessions.

There are 4 sessions in total which take you on a journey on what is changing about employment contracts in 2023 following significant legislative changes in the Irish employment law landscape in 2022 and 2023.

We hope that you enjoy this on-demand training course.

More About the Contract Variations On-Demand training

2022 was a watershed year for laws on employment contracts in Ireland and there’s many more changes to come in 2023. We have seen EU Directives brought into force that require changes to transparency of working conditions, a limit on probation periods, the need to balance the needs of work and life and laws on what must happen if wages include tips or gratuities. All of this on top of the introduction of statutory sick pay, amendments to whistleblowing legislation and of course, the continuation of hybrid working for many employees.

The continued reality of hybrid / remote / flexible working for many employees, mean that employers will be facing several changes to the way employment contracts are written and operate in 2023, together with significant legislative changes introduced by EU Directives and new legislation in Ireland.
