Employment Equality Law Update 2019

Employment Equality Law Update 2019

This is Ireland’s only event with a comprehensive and in-depth analysis of employment equality law developments.

So much has happened in the field of employment equality law since our last (sold out) review and we focus on the key areas of employment equality developments that will impact in Ireland, such as:

  • CJEU and Irish Case Law Developments, with Marguerite Bolger SC and Michelle Ní Longáin – cases from the last year relevant to Ireland’s workplaces
  • Gender Pay Gap Reporting, with Mary-Paula Guinness BL – The Bill is with us and a legislative priority this summer for government
  • Workplace Harassment – Should NDAs be Banned? That’s the question posed and answered by Owen Keany BL
  • Algorithms, Apps & Artificial Intelligence, with Robin Allen QC and Dee Masters BL, Cloisters, London – the new frontier for employment equality is in eliminating bias in AI, a tool exponentially increasing in use throughout all sectors
  • Establishing Quantum and Setting Out Issues – two years after our first survey, Cathal McGreal BL sets out our findings on average employment equality awards and more from the WRC and Labour Court

If you value employment equality law or advise on same, this is an essential CPD learning opportunity.

Join our speakers, including a Supreme Court Judge, a Senior Counsel and three leading Junior Counsel at Ireland’s only full-day employment equality law update for experienced legal and HR practitioners. Our special guests at this year’s update are two leading UK employment equality law experts, including Robin Allen QC, who has been instructed in over 40 Supreme Court/House of Lords cases and has twice been named the UK’s "Employment Law Silk of the year".

Why is this event important for YOU?

As an employment law practitioner, other representative at hearings or seasoned HR professional you have to keep up to date with developments in this area if you are to defend or pursue cases successfully. You need to know what has changed in order to give the latest, practical and correct advice.

Speakers will concentrate on important case law and useful arguments; the ratio and how these decisions impact on existing law. They will also provide detailed notes, practical templates and advice to all delegates.

After attending you will:

  • Know the latest developments in employment equality laws affecting Irish workplaces.
  • Be able to advise on these developments and have detailed reference notes.
  • Have networked with equality experts and peers with a serious interest in employment equality laws – previous years have seen several Equality Officers (now Adjudication Officers) at this event, alongside many lawyers, other representatives and senior HR practitioners.
