About Davnet O’Driscoll
Davnet qualified as a solicitor in 1999. Having spent 12 years specialising in employment law, industrial relations and commercial litigation in a large law firm in Dublin, Davnet now advises multi-national, UK and Irish companies from the set-up stage to providing strategic advice to established companies in relation to their structure, terms of commercial & employment contracts, NDA’s, outsourcing, managing change and corporate restructuring and reorganisation.
Davnet is also a highly experienced litigator and represents trade unions and company directors, executives, and employees in relation to employment claims. She has been involved in numerous reported cases including Orr –v- Zomax Limited [2004], the seminal case of McKeever –v- Board of Management of Knocktemple National School and Ors [2011] which was the first finding of religious discrimination against a board of management of a school and Moran –v- Ernst & Young Ireland [2013] 24 ELR 100, when an accountancy firm was found to have unfairly dismissed Mr. Moran.
Davnet is an accredited mediator, a member of the Mediators Institute of Ireland Accreditation Practice Committee and is a trained Collaborative and family lawyer. She is an expert in Education Law and Child Protection Law.
In 2014 Davnet was appointed to the Working Group for the reduction of red tape for business arising from the changes brought in by the Workplace Relations Commission for the Department of Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation.
Davnet is an active member of the European Employment Group of LAW (Lawyers Associated Worldwide)http://www.lawyersworldwide.com/ which provides information and cross-jurisdictional advice for clients. She is the Irish representative for LINEE (Lawyers International Network for Employees and Executives) http://www.lineenetwork.org/ which provides cross-jurisdictional advice to executives, globally mobile employees and expatriates in relation to their employment terms and disputes.
Davnet has a Diploma in Business Studies from the Smurfit Business School, and a Diploma in Employment Law from the Law Society.
Davnet is published widely in the Sunday Business Post, Business and Leadership, Business & Finance, The Consultant and The Irish Times. She is a lecturer for the Irish Centre for European Law, the Chartered Institute of Accountants, Irish College of General Practitioners and PILA (Public Interest Law Alliance).
