About Seònaid Ó Murchadha

Founder of Amputee Disability Federation Ireland, Seònaid Ó Murchadha has been promoting the employment of people with disabilities for over 20 years, using her unique perception and engaging methods of communication to highlight the abilities of people with disabilities.

An honours graduate of Dublin City University and University of Alcalá in Madrid, Seònaid has many years’ experience assisting employers and organisations successfully steer their way towards the greater inclusion of people with disabilities in the workplace. She achieved certification with the International Disability Management Standards Council (IDMSC) as a Certified Disability Management Professional and Certified CBDMA Auditor (Consensus Based Disability Management Audit) recognition from the Canadian National Institute of Disability Management & Research (NIDMAR).

Seònaid has worked in HR in the Rehab Group, training and managing 200 employees with disabilities; as well as with the Association for Higher Education Access & Disability (AHEAD) on their workplace placement initiative, the Willing Able Mentoring programme, where she supported employers to recruit and place graduates with disabilities in mainstream employment.

She has also worked as HR & Disability Project Manager for the Employer Disability Information pilot initiative advising employers on the recruitment, management and retention of people with disabilities. She developed partnerships with many employers and employer groups, as well as organising inclusive employment events and acted as a judge at several diversity award programmes, including GradIreland Recruitment awards and Chambers Ireland Corporate Social Responsibility Awards.

She regularly features in national media highlighting the abilities of people with disabilities; she presented RTE 1 television programme Three60 and presented Outside the Box on RTE radio 1, in addition to regularly contributing pieces across news media, radio and television.

Most recently, Seònaid has been working with Dublin City University’s Centre of Excellence for Diversity and Inclusion helping organisations to build cultures of inclusion by providing access to the very latest developments in academic research, insights and tools on diversity and inclusion.
